Go Fish…

Personally I don’t really get how people find fishing anything other than boring, however if you have a partner who enjoys fishing we have come up with the perfect plan. Stay at one of our luxury hotels and pamper yourself while your other half tries to catch a few fish.
We have some great hotels where both you and your partner can enjoy a few days away whilst partaking in separate activities during the day but feasting on delicious food and relaxing with each other in the evenings.

Waterton Hall

Waterton hall is a 4 star hotel in Walton, Wakefield with a scenic setting of rolling parkland with its own lake, a backdrop of ancient woodland and a championship golf course. There is also a fantastic leisure centre with their own swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym.

Walton Hall Trout Fishery is where the fly fishing happens, you can purchase a day ticket for just £25 per person from 6.00am – 4.30pm, and an evening ticket £18 per person from 5.00pm – 1/2 hour before dark
The hotel has 65 wonderfully appointed bedrooms most with stunning views over the surrounding lake, woodland or golf course, 22 bedrooms are situated on the Island in Walton Hall and 43 bedrooms on the main land in Waterton Park Hotel.
They are currently running a “Prosecco and Strawberries” offer which includes:

Rushton Hall

Rushton Hall is a magnificent Grade I Listed Four Star and Two Rosette Hotel and Spa bordering the beautiful counties of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

The Stableyard Spa provides both members and residents with a haven of relaxation in a beautiful setting. It is situated in the grounds of the original Rushton Hall stables and is linked to the hotel by a glazed corridor. Treatments are also available to non-members and guests of Rushton Hall.
The head chef and his team are dedicated to serving food that is not only inspirational, but is of a consistently high calibre. Our ingredients are always of the best quality, and we use seasonal and local produce wherever possible.
Although there is not lake within the grounds to fish the Ringstead Grange Trout Fishery is only 15 miles away. It is a 36-acre fishery, just off the A54 A day ticket will cost you £21 [6 fish], concessions and evening tickets are available along with boat hire. You will be able to fish for brown trout to 11lbs, rainbow trout to 15lbs and salmon, from the 1st March to 31st December.

Borrowdale Gates

Borrowdale Gates is a country house hotel in the Borrowdale Valley, with log fires, wonderful Lakeland-inspired cooking and warm, comfortable bedrooms. It’s a real home-from-home. The recent refurbishment programme has tastefully brought a fresh and modern twist to arguably one of Cumbria’s finest country houses, originally built in 1860 as a private residence. The bedrooms make the most of Borrowdale’s majestic views, as do the lounges with their picture windows looking out over the fields and fells.

Although there isn’t a spa or any leisure facilities, the surround natural beauty is relaxing in its own ways. There are plenty of walks that can be enjoyed by all, also the Lake District cruises around Derwentwater take place all year. If you fancied something a little bit different the Theatre By The Lakes “the most beautifully located and friendly theatre in Britain” is only a 10 minute drive away and has a variety of performances and productions happening throughout the year.
Meanwhile your fishing loving partner can enjoy the half mile wide and 3.5 miles long stream fed lake of Derwentwater to catch a mixture of Perch, Pike, Salmon, Trout. You can purchase Season, Week and Day Tickets. Derwentwater is run by Keswick Angling Association To find out more visit go-fish.co.uk
