The Peak District is an upland area in central and northern England, lying mainly in northern Derbyshire, but also covering parts of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and South and West Yorkshire.
The area is called the Peak not because of the hills, which are quite rounded, but because early British tribe the Picts once lived here, this is one of the country’s best-loved national parks (it’s the busiest in Europe, and the second busiest in the world after Mt Fuji).
One of the most popular activities to take part in whilst in the Peak District is visiting and walking around Chatsworth House. Chatsworth House is a stately home in North Derbyshire, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. The house architecture and collection have been evolving for five centuries. The house has over 30 rooms to explore and visitors are encouraged to explore the garden at their leisure, there are no signs saying 'keep off the grass', and dogs on leads are also very welcome, making it a great day out for all the family, or even a romantic day out.
