The Rose in Vale Country House Hotel is an award-winning, luxury country house hotel set on the north Cornish Coast in the village of Mithian in its own wooded valley. The Hotel’s rosetted restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere for you to enjoy a leisurely dinner whilst watching the sun set in the valley. We offer a seasonal, daily changing menu so there is always something different for you to look forward to each day of your stay.

We currently have a small meeting room for up to 12 people boardroom style. The room has natural daylight and is fully equipped with Wi-Fi, multimedia projector screen and flip chart.

Your ceremony can take place inside the hotel or outside in the beautiful, encapsulated gardens surrounded by rose beds and a winding river. All weddings are individually planned! Cornwall, with it’s mild coastal climate, is home to some truly magnificent and varied gardens and in Spring they are full of exciting, rare and beautiful plants. We would like to invite you to come and enjoy a Spring Garden Break in Cornwall for 4 or 5 days. For each full day of your stay we will give you free entry to one of the following great Cornwall Gardens: The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Bonython, Trebah, Lamorran, Lanhydrock, Caerhays, Trelissick and Trewithen.

Garden Guided Tours

For this year we will be running a Great Cornwall Gardens Break. The break will consist of trips to many of the great Cornish Gardens. The break will run from Sunday 7th April to Friday 12th April 2013.

5 nights half board accommodation, including entry to gardens and guided tours from £ 375.00 per person.

During the break you will be accompanied by Stephen Bohane, an accomplished Gardening expert. Stephen will take you to both some of the best known and some of the smaller Gardens that you may not otherwise have found. Many of the visits to the Gardens will be hosted by the Head Gardener from that garden who will give you a VIP tour.

Over the course of the break we will visit many different gardens and provide a perspective which is not normally available.

Land and Seascape Painting Holidays by Ray Balkwill

We are delighted that well-known local artist Ray Balkwill will be returning to Rose in Vale in 2013.

Ray will be running two Painting Holidays at the Rose in Vale during the Spring and Autumn.

The dates are: 28th April to 3rd May 2013 29th September to 4th October 2013.

Ray Balkwill SWAC is a well-known West Country artist whose watercolours, oils and mixed media paintings are much sought after. Born in Exeter in 1948, he graduated from Exeter College of Art, thereafter making a career in advertising as an Art Director. In 1990 demand for his paintings led him to give up his job to become a professional artist.

Each day Ray will help his students to develop their artistic talents and, after dinner, there will be an evening talk by Ray. The course will consist of a five night stay at the Rose in Vale Hotel and will include breakfast and dinner on each day. Ray will provide you with four days of personal tuition. Whenever possible, Ray will use some of the many local scenic locations such as Trevellas, St Agnes, Chapel Porth and St Ives.
