This 16th Century inn remains staunchly, reassuringly traditional ” but has been at the forefront of the gastronomic pub food revolution since 1983. Expect nooks, crannies, beams and crackling fires, and a stylish three rosette restaurant.

Thought has gone into every detail, from the antique furniture in the timbered rooms to the fabrics and the colours. There's even a ‘Wine Cave' for small intimate weddings.

Menus change with each season and include dishes ranging from filo 'moneybags' of seafood in lobster sauce ” the fish comes fresh from Fleetwood ” to our own Yorkshire twist on tapas ('Yapas'!).

Vegetarians get more than an afterthought and the sticky toffee pudding is legendary.

Exquisite bedrooms, split between the converted Barn and adjacent Sycamore Bank, are all different; perhaps a French armoire, a cast iron bed, a claw-foot bath, a private garden. All have top-quality fabrics, pretty colours, cosy bathrooms, and, in the newer rooms, a contemporary feel. However it’s the little extras that will stick in your memory; the fresh milk and lemon in the fridge for your teas, the complimentary canapes served in the room at 6pm.

The glorious up-hill-and-down-dale drive to get here is also part of the charm. Everything about the Angel Inn is sensational from the welcome to the setting, to the food.

The Snug is particularly suitable for all sorts of occasions ” small dinner parties, business lunches and special celebrations ” comfortably seating up to fourteen guests. We will create a menu just for you and can also recommend wines to complement your special meal.Business guests can use the Snug for a meeting, breaking out for a relaxed lunch in the bar, and at the end of the day we will re-set the room for a formal dinner in the evening.

Seating for up to 40 guests (total ceremony 70 guests)Seating up to 70 guests for a served or buffet wedding breakfast, we can produce Three Rosette standard food for you and your guests. A three course menu is offered with coffee and petit fours, from £50 per person for a set menu, to £65 per person for a choice menu of three starters, three mains and three puddings.
